Arsenal could only win 1-0 when host Udinese in the Champions League qualifier first leg on Tuesday or Wednesday (17/8/2011) early morning hrs. These results make Arsenal have not completely safe. Therefore, there is still a second leg to be served both teams, 24 August, before determining who is eligible to qualify for the Champions League.
Aaron Ramsey who escaped the offside trap after receiving the ball from Bacary Sagna managed to release bait into the middle of Udinese penalty box. Theo Walcott who ran from behind managed to grab the ball with his left foot without being able to be driven by goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.
This quick goals to make Arsenal more eager in enhancing the press against Udinese. However, it does not mean Udinese tried to fight back.
Arsenal goalkeeper was almost uprooted by Udinese in the 12th minute. Free kick from Antonio Di Natale outside the box leads right into the goal. However, the crossbar is still the savior host.
Udinese threatened again in the 26th minute. Through counter-attack and after passing several Arsenal players, Pablo Armero successfully dealing with goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. Unfortunately, Armero failed to subdue Szczesny because the kick was blocked by the goalkeeper.
Loss of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri did not appear so pronounced for Arsenal. Their Midfield were occupied by Aaron Ramsey and Tomas Rosicky looks not contribute. This can be seen from more frequent Arsenal build attacks from the right side.
Condition was utilized well by Udinese to Arsenal's deadly attacks. So, not surprisingly, ultimately Thomas Vermaelen and friends often fail to create chances until the end of the first half.
Starting the second half, Udinese go directly to the attack. Three minutes after the whistle blew, Di Natale who got the ball from Armero almost equalized when his shot is saved by Szczesny.
This second round, Udinese play more loose. The Francesco Guidolin's foster children can play more open to attacks that pierce defense for the Gunners who really feel the impact of loss of life in midfield after the death of the captain, Cesc Fabregas. Unfortunately, the attacks always were driven the Arsenal defender.
90th minute, Arsenal managed to get a chance to increase the advantage.
